The bedroom is a place where you relax after a long tiring day. So it should be furnished in such a way that it feels like a welcome abode. It is a place which should be tranquil and where you can put your feet up and forget all tensions and worries. Although all of us would like to have a big bedroom with a king sized bed and pretty bellowing drapes, it is not always possible. Most apartments have very small or tiny bedrooms that require a lot of creativity and ingenuity to fit all necessary furniture and furnishings. Choose furniture that is in scale with the dimensions of the bedroom. One of the biggest mistake that home owners make is to cram a small bedroom with large furniture pieces. This makes the bedroom appear smaller than it actually is. Also, make sure that the style of furniture is minimalistic with clean lines and is not overly ornate.
Wicker furniture is made using rattan reeds and hence can also be called rattan furniture. Rattan is a type of palm tree that has a deep and shiny bark. This bark is steamed in order to make it supple. Once it is soft enough, the reeds, which are around 2-2.5 inches in diameter, are wrought into the desired shapes and woven together to design whatever object needs to be made. Using wicker furniture was a fairly common practice in the Victorian era, and we can still find authentic Victorian home furniture made out of wicker.
Futon: The futons are Japanese-style beds which are not supported by a frame. These beds are pliable and just like mattresses that one can fold after their use. The futons can therefore, be used as sitting areas for kids during day time. There is no risk of falling from beds with this type. The Westernized form of futons for kids come with a frame. These futons are permanently placed over a frame; instead of storing the futons after use (just like in Japanese tradition), wooden or metal frames are used.
