Color Scheme: For the designs, it is very important to get the color scheme right. Choosing rich reds, cool blues, or greens for a modern bedroom is strictly prohibited. Colors like beige, taupe, grays, and whites, are the perfect choice for walls. While for your furniture, you can think of tans, browns, mauves, and white. You have to keep in mind that if you want to add a dash of color, it can only be in the few accessories like pillows, etc.
Consider this: the minute you decide to purchase a side table, keep the layout in mind. You do not want to end up with an oversized side table in a relatively congested corner or a puny table lost in a large room. Make sure you measure up the space between the bed and other pieces of furniture to avoid a headache later on. Ideally, the furniture layout should not just enhance the overall look of the room but also allow ease of access to things kept on the table.
Twin beds make a great statement for guest rooms. It allows enough space to the guests to decide, whether to keep the twin beds apart or pull them together to make a king bed. The space between them is the best place to add accessories like a table and a lamp. There are many different themes in which you can decorate the guest room in your house. Two of my personal favorites are vintage style and the country style. In vintage style, you can consider creating crown canopies, in vintage print fabrics. Choose colors like rose, cream, walnut, maroon, etc., for a vintage style look.
